Heat builds this weekend, hot weather peaks across Maryland next week
Humidity remains at tolerable levels and a breeze is making it feel more pleasant across greater Baltimore Friday evening.
Temperatures gradually cool through the 80s and back into the 70s after sunset. Plan on a warm and dry evening. A few showers are possible across southern Pennsylvania through dinner time.
Saturday begins with temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Weather trends hotter through AFRAM weekend
The big weekend begins with a hot Saturday afternoon. Temperatures soar into the lower 90s across greater Baltimore. However, humidity won't be too bad. Saturday will be the most 'comfortable' AFRAM day.
Saturday evening will be very warm. Temperatures remain in the 80s through the final acts at the park. Festival-goers are urged to take precautions. Wearing light-colored and loose-fitting clothing, seeking shade when possible and drinking plenty of water. Taking these precautions will reduce the risk of heat stress.
Temperatures soar into the mid and upper 90s Sunday. It'll also be more humid. It may feel hotter than 100° Sunday afternoon.
The UV index over the weekend will be very high. You can get a sunburn in a short amount of time. Wear a hat and remember to apply, and reapply, sunscreen.
Dangerous heat arrives next week
First Alert Weather Days have been issued for Sunday through Wednesday of next week. Actual high temperatures will flirt with 100° each day. The heat index could easily exceed that threshold, possibly feeling as hot as 105°.
Monday and Tuesday will be the hottest days. Extreme heat could lead to heat-related illnesses if proper precautions aren't taken. Try to limit tough outdoor work during the hottest time of day; generally 2pm to 7 p.m. Stay hydrated. Check on vulnerable neighbors. Make sure pets have access to water and shade.
Slightly cooler temperatures and a greater chance of scattered thunderstorms arrive late in the week.
