Sunny, hot, humid in North Texas ahead of Summer Solstice
Summer officially kicks off Friday, as the Summer Solstice arrives at 9:42 p.m. CT, and it is most certainly feeling like the start of summer in North Texas.
Temperatures are sticking in the mid to upper 90s for a stretch, but feels-like temperatures are even hotter, thanks to high humidity.
Expect those heat index values to range from about 95°-105° during the afternoons, through the end of the extended period, and beyond.
Here's a look at your day planner for the first day of summer in North Texas:
Keep the sunglasses and the sunscreen handy, and remember to stay hydrated, even if you don't feel thirsty.
Heat is one of the top weather-related killers in the United States, so taking those preventative measures is critical.
Take breaks in the shade and the air conditioning when possible, and enjoy the rain-free stretch as we settle into some of our driest months of the year coming up in July and August.
