Grass fire burns north of Woodland near E. Kentucky Avenue
A grass fire burned about 130 acres near Woodland late Tuesday afternoon, authorities say.
The fire was burning in an open wheat field near E. Kentucky Avenue, between N. Pioneer Avenue and County Road 102, north of the Woodland city center.
Shortly before 4 p.m., Woodland Fire officials said forward progress of the fire had been stopped, but the flames jumped a containment line and were moving east toward County Road 102.
Firefighters were again able to stop the forward progress of the flames shortly less than an hour later.
Road closures remain in effect for County Road 18C at County Road 102, East Beamer Street at County Road 102, and Pioneer Avenue at East Kentucky Avenue
The fire was started by a wheat farmer harvesting their crop, firefighters say.
Woodland Fire officials are urging people to avoid the area so emergency vehicles have full access to the scene.
Firefighters say no structures are threatened by the fire that jumped the containment line. No damage or injuries have been reported.
This is a developing story.
