Haggie Fire in Wilton area threatens multiple homes, forward progress stopped
WILTON – Forward progress of a grass fire in the Wilton area was stopped after forcing an evacuation advisory for several homes late Thursday morning, firefighters said.
The Haggie Fire broke out in the area of Haggie Lane and Collings Road around 10:45 a.m.
The fire was burning toward the back of homes along Haggie Road, where the evacuation advisory was issued. Residents who evacuated will be able to return home in the early afternoon hours.
Fire crews said the fire was burning in light, flashy fuels and was spreading at a moderate rate.
The forward progress was stopped at about 42 acres, a spokesperson with the Cosumnes Fire Department said. At least one outbuilding was destroyed and there have been no reports that any homes were damaged.
Cosumnes Fire, Sacramento Metro and the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office are all working the fire.
No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
