Campbells Run Road reopens after flash flooding causes closure
Campbells Run Road has reopened after flash flooding from Thursday evening's storms caused a closure.
The road was forced closed between Baldwin Road and Keiners Lane. Crews began the repair process early Friday morning, and the roadway had been reopened as of 2 p.m., according to the Department of Public Works.
Businesses in the area, as well as drivers in the area, were flooded out on Thursday evening.
Allegheny County Public Works officials said the storm undermined a section of the road that had been paved earlier in the day, and the debris was left behind because of the storm.
On Monday morning, crews will resume the milling and paving project. That work will require a moving work zone with flaggers controlling traffic. All work on Campbells Run Road is expected to be done by early next week.
"We know that Campbells Run Road is a critical road for Robinson Township residents and businesses as well as for drivers from the surrounding communities. So, we have very much appreciated the public's patience as we have worked as quickly and efficiently as possible to clean up and make repairs following yesterday's severe weather," the department said in a news release.
