Crews are battling a five-alarm fire at a Fort Worth apartment complex on West Rosedale Street on Monday afternoon.

The Fort Worth Fire Department was called to the six-story building in the 1000 block of West Rosedale Street around 3 p.m. for an active fire.

About 150 firefighters were battling the blaze, Fort Worth Fire Public Information Officer Craig Trojacek said Monday. He said the wind and void spaces in the apartment complex helped the fire spread.

Upon arrival, firefighters conducted a mass evacuation and went door to door to ensure no one was inside any unit.

Trojacek said one civilian was injured but is okay, and one firefighter was checked on scene due to the heat.

"It's a hot, humid day. Our firefighters are being rotated out to make sure that they're staying in a good physical condition to combat this fire," said Trojacek. "We'll pull some of those firefighters out that have been inside for quite some period of time, and then we'll put fresh firefighters back in."

The CBS News Texas Chopper was on scene, where more than a dozen firefighters were seen attacking the fire with multiple hoses on the apartment complex's roof. Other firefighters were seen attacking from the side on an engine ladder.

Trojacek said some of the units in the complex will most likely have fire, smoke and water damage.

According to the Red Cross, hundreds of residents have been displaced from the multifamily complex.

This is a developing story.
