Ranch Place Fire in East San Jose contained after burning more than 90 acres

A vegetation fire that started in the hills of East San Jose on Tuesday afternoon is 100% contained, officials said Wednesday morning.

The Ranch Place Fire was first reported near the 3500 block of Ranch Place just after 4 p.m. Around 6:15 p.m., the fire prompted evacuation orders, which were reduced to warnings just before 9:30 p.m.

San Jose Fire said that Cal Fire SCU was sending air support, and that it is a tier 3 vegetation fire. ., Cal Fire said the fire had burned 10 acres. At 5:10 p.m., the fire had burned about 30 acres.

By 10:15 p.m., the fire was 75% contained and forward progress was stopped. In its final update Wednesday morning, Cal Fire said the fire had burned 92.3 acres and has been fully contained.  

"Firefighters worked through the night, mopping up and securing containment lines. All evacuation warnings have been lifted, and all homes have been repopulated," the agency said in a statement.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
