Investigation underway after woman found shot in Crafton Heights
A woman is dead after an apparent shooting in Pittsburgh's Crafton Heights neighborhood.
According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, police were called to the 1400 block of Chartiers Avenue after a two-round ShotSpotter alert just before 4:30 a.m.
Once officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot in the chest. Officers started CPR while waiting for medics, but she was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later after being transported.
"Oh my goodness. It's so sad. I don't know what's going on in the world. When I heard that woman got killed, I'm very nervous," said resident Chelsey Harris.
This is coming as a shock to residents of the Crafton Heights neighborhood, as it all happened along a major rush hour route and right at a corner auto towing shop.
Police are still piecing together details on how the woman was shot at a major intersection at 4 a.m.
"I'm nervous, very, very nervous. Like my daughter goes to school right around the corner, so I'm nervous," Harris added. "She missed school today, so I'm glad."
