A man who Philadelphia police believe fatally shot another man inside a Tacony 7-Eleven on Thursday is now in custody. SWAT units surrounded a home in the neighborhood hours after the shooting, and made an arrest before 10 a.m.

Police said a fight over a lottery machine led to the shooting inside the store on the 6900 block of Torresdale Avenue. Officers arrived at the store around 7:07 a.m. and the victim was pronounced dead on the scene by medics at 7:15 a.m.

After that, officers began searching for the suspected shooter. Neighbors alerted them to a home on the nearby 7000 block of Tulip Street, where Chopper 3's cameras showed an armored vehicle and multiple SWAT officers in body armor near a home.

Officers would later learn the suspect was not inside the home, but was in his work vehicle nearby. There was a girl inside the home, however. Police say she is the suspect's daughter. Officers eventually entered the home and walked the girl out. She is now in the care of other relatives.

A neighbor said the suspected shooter was sitting in his work van nearby when officers approached the vehicle and made the arrest.

"They got him out of the car very calmly, handcuffed him...and then they went in [the home] and got the little girl out, and they walked her out, two officers holding her hands," the neighbor, who did not provide a name, said.

Meanwhile, several police vehicles were at the store where the shooting took place Thursday morning, and the parking lot was cordoned off with yellow police tape.

A witness, Chris Mullins, said the shooting stemmed from a fight inside the store.

"The guy opened the door, coming out, and they started yelling and screaming. Then they turned around and went back in and started fighting. One thing led to another … he shot him towards the back of the store," Mullins said.

"It was just, I guess, too much heat for too many days, and ... [tempers] short," a neighbor said.

The suspect arrested is a local business owner, the neighbor said.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
