NYPD investigating armored car robbery in St. Albans, Queens
The New York City Police Department is investigating an armored car robbery in St. Albans, Queens.
It happened at around 8:50 a.m. Monday at Linden Boulevard and 205th Street. A Bank of America branch is located there, though it was closed as officers conducted their investigation.
Police are looking for two armed men they say took off from the scene. They say two men in ski masks armed with guns approached two Brinks employees, and the suspects removed a gun from a guard. Police say the suspects then stole $540,000 from the back of an armored Brinks truck before taking off down Linden Boulevard in a black sedan.
No shots were fired, and no one suffered any major injuries.
Sources say the Brinks truck drivers were about to make a drop-off at the Bank of America before the robbery.
Chopper 2 was over the scene, where multiple officers could be seen wearing vests.
So far, no arrests have been made.
