Two people were injured in a shooting Monday night during the Ford Fireworks in Detroit.
Police responded to the area of Randolph and Larned streets. The victims were identified as a 17-year-old boy and a 22-year-old woman. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police say one of the victims was shot in the leg and the other was shot in the hand.
Detroit police say the shooting happened at about 10:04 p.m. and stemmed from an argument between two men. Police say the suspect pulled out a gun and fired shots, striking the two people. The 17-year-old was the intended target, and the 22-year-old woman was a bystander, according to police.
Police are now searching for two people. One person was described as a Black man, light complexion, standing between 5 feet 8 inches tall and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slim build. The person was seen wearing a white shirt, white pants and white shoes.
The other person, who police identified as the shooter, is described as wearing a navy blue long-sleeved hoodie, navy blue shorts and white Nike Air Force Ones shoes.
Chief Todd Bettison said the shooting outside "clean zones," which are areas that have metal detectors.
"It only takes one knucklehead. It only takes one person to make a bad decision. And so, we're here, we'll respond to it and we will hold the individuals who chose to do that strictly accountable," Bettison said.
